Homebuyer Education
The RHA’s Homebuyer Assistance Program includes homebuyer education and counseling in both group and individual sessions with a trained Program Counselor.
Home Grown Class
The Home Grown Class is a 9-hour homebuyer education class to help prepare you to purchase and own a home. Attending the class is required before receiving mortgage assistance from the RHA. In the class, you’ll learn assessing buyer readiness, successful budgeting, credit issues, financing a home and the mortgage process, selecting a home, the closing process and maintaining a home.
The Home Grown Class is jointly taught by the RHA and Housing Solutions for the Southwest. Community volunteers, such as loan officers, title company closers and real estate brokers, often assist in teaching the program. The class is typically offered monthly, either on two consecutive Saturdays or three consecutive Wednesdays. Registration is required. Click here for a class schedule or contact the RHA.
Homebuyer Counseling
RHA staff provides free one-on-one counseling services to prospective homebuyers, offering guidance and support with debt management, credit repair, budgeting, loan applications, contracts and the home buying process. For more information, contact the RHA.
